| When I first started into Nigerians, I researched the lines that have been producing outstanding mammary systems, and excellent general dairy character and confirmation. I was also looking for, in these same animals, colour variation and flash. I did this research before I purchased my 'main men '. The following are young bucks who still have to prove their worth here at the farm, but came as close as possible to my high standards. Most of the boys have been Canadian Goat Society Classified in either 2007 or 2008, and their classification scores are located under their DOB. I am extremely pleased with how well the boys I have chosen have classified. I'm hoping that the genetics behind them will consistantly be produced in their offspring. After all, in order to produce the best, you have to use the best!! Updated photos will be taken as soon as the boys have their summer haircuts. I realize we currently have an extremely full roster of boys- but seeing as the border could close at any time(as we have seen) I decided I would keep few extra boys as my insurance policy!!!! |
SIRE: Sugar Creek's FR Snow Goose A stunning
little chamoise and white buck. The little guy looks as though he is going to be quite the powerhouse!!
He's got quite a masculine head already, and his beard is oh so cute!!! His mom, a first freshener, freshened with a very nicely attached udder,
nice sized teats and good capacity. Her teat placement is also very good. His father should increase capacity, and with his mothers attachments, this little guy should be prepotent for some outstanding udders.
He will be the only buck that is retained here this year- so he'd better be good!!!! With all of our nice bucks here from our importation, I don't know when he'll be used- but he'll stay until I at least have a couple of daughters from him.
Well, I can say I am extremely lucky to have been able to bring this guy home. I had watched him go up for sale on Cheryl's site and thought I would never be bringing him home. Luckily for me- no-one else
knew what a find this guy was!!! Thank goodness the border finally opened after three long years of not being able to import. MK Rabbah has put some fine udders on most of his daughters, so when the border opened up, I snapped this guy up.
His mother Vienna, also has some amazing offspring out there. I cannot wait to put this guy to use, and he will be used fairly heavily in the fall of 2007. The feet and legs on the little boy are just amazing! The above is a picture of his dam, Vienna. As you can see from his photo- he is NICE. I only wish he was a little more calm!!
Well, once again I feel extremely lucky I have been able to bring this guy home. All I can say is that I'm thankful Penny had a really nice buck kid this year- otherwise he'd likely still be at Cheryl's!!. Not exactly my favourite colour- but his genetics are
just fantastic!
I have been hoping for a while to get a kid out of Nate, and this guy should fit the bill very nicely. He's the grandson of Money Pit, whom we lost to a bout of clostridium a couple of years ago. We are extremely happy to be able to bring those
genetics back into our herd once again. Not sure who he'll be bred to this fall- but I have a while to think about it yet! His pedigree is jam-packed with some outstanding animals, I can't see that he won't perform well here.
Not the most wonderful general appearance- though he did score VG85 on his Classification- but the mammary genetics behind this guy are truly amazing!!!
Another amazing boy to bring home! I have used a couple of Storm's sons here in the past, and though I haven't seen
many of them freshen, I can say that I am quite happy with their general appearance. Add that the the capacity of his dam, Lovely, and that should be a recipe
for some outstanding animals. His width is absolutely incredible, I don't know that I've ever seen a wider buck!!! Can't wait to use this guy!!
He'll likely be used on our more refined does as he is quite the powerhouse. He should increase capacity on the does he is bred to.
Another amazing boy to bring home! I have totally lucked out with this guy! I am sure he will have a major impact on our breeding program.
With the passing of his sire, this guy is like gold. He has very nice general appearance, and is quite dairy. He is a little taller than our other guys- but I don't really think he'll
'bump the stick' as an adult. He is more refined than our other boys- so he makes a very nice addition to the herd. He does need a more level rump, and his elbows could be a bit tighter.

I do have to say the border couldn't have opened at a more opportune time! Although I was already bringing home his sire, this guy will make a nice addition in our herd as well.
His dam is only a second freshener, but she is already on her was to follow in HER dams footprints. He'll likely be used on a couple of our does for the 2008 kidding season, and we'll see what he can produce!!
Like his sire, this guy could use a more level rump.

Here is the last(but CERTAINLY not the least) boy to arrive here at Veliraf Farm. I wasn't originally planning to bring this guy home.
In fact, he wasn't even for sale the first time I went to pick up the first 'batch' of boys!! Although he is currently our oldest buck, I think First Rate has much
to offer our herd. He has already been bred to a couple of does, and will be bred to a few of our young girls so we can see what he will produce. He is currently recieving some special treatment, as we think he is just wonderful!!!
First Rate managed to pick up not one but TWO legs to his Grand Championship at the ripe old age of 6. We hope he'll manage to get his last leg in 2009, when he'll be 7 years of age. He's been bred to more of our girls, and his kids from 2008 are very nice.
| We currently provide buck service to those who have purchased the does to be bred from us in the past. The fees are as follows; All Bucks - $175. A boarding rate of $2/day will apply while the does are visiting. Any veterinary fees incurred while the does are on our premisis will be the responsibility of the owners of the doe. |
