Welcome to Veliraf Icelandic sheep.  We are currently a small flock, but with time and patience I'm sure we will grow.  Our original four Icelandic ewes all came from Nancy Pease at Glen Osprey Farms, and up until 2007 our rams have always come from Stefania Dingum of Yeoman Farm. Our herd health is taken very seriously, and when we do decide to introduce new animals into our flock they are quarantined in a pen far away from our other animals. We are currently free of OPP, scrapie, footrot, and CL, and we will do our best to keep it that way. We are also enrolled in the Voluntary Scrapie Flock Certification Program- Flock #50.

Here is a bit on infomation about the ewes that can be found here at Veliraf Farm. We expect our girls to have about a 180% lambing average- though on occasion we do make exceptions(don't we all!!) Our girls have all come from lines that produce triplets- but we do not flush them, and have been quite happy with them consitantly producing twins. We are striving to produce fast growing lambs, who will make light market weight in the quickest time possible. We currently have a small flock, and number less than 20 animals. We're hoping that our 2008 lambing season is not like the last few years and that we have more ewes lambs born so that we can grow with these amazing sheeo. The last couple of years has only seen two ewe lambs born in each of the years- so it makes it quite difficult to grow!! We did finally give in and purchase a couple of adult ewe to get us going a bit quicker- we'll have to see if living here affects the sex of thier lambs. With our luck- they'll just have ram lambs!!!
