First Fresheners

Welcome to our First Freshener page.   Here are our does who have freshened for the first time.   I do not judge our girls too harshly on their first freshening, as subsequent freshenings can change an udder quite a bit. This can be either bad or good!!
Please excuse the lack of/out of date pictures. We will be giving our girls a haircut as soon as we are able, and posting udder shots as well.

Napa really blessed me in 2007, which is nice- since she hasn't had any kids since then. Maybe these two girls were her grand finale. I certainly hope not- as both this girls are very nice- but different as well. Perfect has a super snugly attached udder- but isn't as easy to milk as her sister. I'll make a better evaluation on her second freshening though, this was her first freshening as a two year old. I just love her general appearance- she has a beautiful topline, and nice feet and legs. For 2010, she has been bred to Sugar Creek 5C Xtra Card. -we can't wait to see what comes of this. These will be our first and last kids out of Xtra, whom we lost suddenly this fall. All does will be retained, and possibly a buck.

Can't remember the last time we had twin does born here.......I thought it would never happen again :) What a beautiful doe, and what eyecatching colours too!! Thorn freshened for the first time with buck/doe twins. She also freshened with a nice little udder. Nice rear- nice fore, and easy to milk(one she figured out NOT to kick the mailk pail every time) At two months fresh she is milking around 3.5 pounds per day. Not too bad for a first freshener. Thorn will be bred to Sugar Creek NT Tight Wad, to increase capacity.

Nice little doe, long and level, and has a good rear leg set. From a set of twins out of a first freshener- we're keeping her back to see what her sire can do for our udders here. She'll be retained until she freshens, at least. She has very nice general appearance- we'll just have to wait and see what her udder is like. She's been bred to Sugar Creek NT Tight Wad. These kids should have excellent general appearance. Tickseed is springing with a really lovely udder- it looks as though she'll have good capacity, nice attachments, and best of all- great teat size- they are already nice and she hasn't freshened yet!!
