On this page you will see all of the senior does we currently have at Veliraf Farm.   These does have many of the traits that I am looking for in a nigerian dwarf doe.   I look for a feminine and refined animal with good angulation in the rear legs, and good milk production in the genetics behind them   We have started with just a few does, and as we become more familiar with them, I'm sure our herd will grow.
We have recently begun placing udder shots of our girls on our web-site.   To view them, simply place your mouse over a particular doe- and the udder shot will appear(as long as I have a shot of that girl!!)

Sire-Gay-Mor's JJU Larksong *S

Dam- Hayseed Farm's BW Madeira
(Hayseed Farm's Buckwheat SH x Hayseed Farm's KK Dribbles)

I am really not very good at posing these guys for pictures- but I do my best!! Napa does have a nice topline, and she is very level when on the move.   She is maturing into a beautiful doe.   Her udder is very well attached all around, and is capacious. She could benefit from larger teats and slightly more correct teat placement (her teats are set near the outside of her udder and point out just slightly- which would appear to be a Johnny Jump-Up influence).   Napa was bred toCesear's Villa FZ First Rate , for very early 2010 kids.  Sadly, she freshened with twin bucks- though for my herd- that seems to be the norm. Though she had an easy delivery- one of the bucks was stillborn. I will be holding onto the other buckskin boy for a while to see what he turns out like.

Veliraf Gig's Spam'n'Eggs

Height - 19.5"

Sire-PromisedLand Gigolo
( Green Gate Golddigger X PromisedLand Toontses   )
Dam- Happy Tailz Strawberry Kiwi
(Piddlin Acres Murphys Law X Ponders End Berry Royale )

Spam is quickly becoming one of my favourite girls here.   She has a nicely shaped udder, with quite good capacity. She is quite easy to milk, having nice orifices, and she is often the doe I choose to keep in milk. Her fore udder is smooth and very well extended. We have decided to breed her to
Sugar Creek NT Tight Wad as well this year, to hopefully increase teat size. We'll have to wait a while longer to see if that will have worked!! She has produced triplets in the past for us- so we're hoping we might be lucky enough to see them again for 2010, and NOT triplet bucks like in 2007. Heck, I'd be happy with just a single doe!!!   Since an extremely difficult kidding in 2008, we have been having trouble getting Spam settled- we're hoping to breed her to Tight Wad for 2010 kids. A doe will be retained.

Height - 18"
Colour - Buckskin with some white

Sire-PromisedLand Blue Prince
(Green Gate Discover x Green Gate Princess)
Dam- Gay-Mor's LR Ninth Concerto
(Piddlin Acres Lies and Rumours X Twin Creeks A lilting Lullaby)

I haven't yet had this girl up on the milking stand, but what I can see is that she has a nicely shaped udder,  and though she has a wide area of attachment- she does need more rear height. Her fore is smoother than her mothers, so obviously William helped out in that respect. She also needs tighter shoulders/elbows. Nightengale will be for sale in 2010, after she freshens. She will be bred to Tuscan or Bootstraps in order to tighten up her front end.

This girl is quite an improvement over her mother......and what an understatment that is!! Finally a doe out of Money Pit that shows what he was capable of producing! She unfortunately is black and white- my least favourite colour, but her mammary system is much nicer than her dams!! She has a nicely shaped udder good attachments, nice teat size and good capacity. I would like her teats to point downwards more, and for her to have more open orifices. A keeper for sure!!! She will be bred to Sugar Creek NT Tight Wad, and will freshen in spring 2010. . A doe will be retained. We currently have a buckskin buckling available out of Nadia and First Rate available.

Well, finally a doe kid from Napa. I have been waiting for one of these for literally years. Although her rump could be a little more level- she really is turning into an elegant well put-together doe. The mammaries behind her are quite amazing and I've waited a long time to be able to merge the Napa/Pyrite mammaries together. She has a nicely attached udder, with nice rear height. I would prefer to see more correct teat placement- but she is quite easy to milk, with nice open orifices. She has a lovely buttery soft udder. This spring she will be bred to
Tuscan to flatten out that rump. She's also one of our taller does- though not overheight- so Tuscan will help keep size down as well. I can hardly wait to see what we get from this combination. I'll try to get a picture of her ASAP, but I will have to wait until she freshens in order to get a nice udder shot, this one was taken in January- so she's obviously roughly clipped.

A doe from lines I am not used to using. This girl could use a better topline- though she is nice and small. She'll be bred to   First Rate, in the hopes that he will correct both general appearance and mammaries. She needs a higher rear udder, tighter attachments, and longer teats.

What a little powerhouse of a doe!  Although I was surprised that Pellionia only had a single- I am quite happy that it was a doe. She's line-bred on Twin Creeks PD MoneyInTheBank. This doe is TINY! I would be surprised if she's over 18". She freshened for us in 2008- lots of capacity- I would like to see longer teats-but we'll breed her to bucks to help in that respect. She will be bred to  Caesar's Villa FZ First Rate spring 2010 kids.

Can't remember the last time we had twin does born here.......I thought it would never happen again :) Both Thorn and her sister Thistle, will be retained until at least after freshening, I really do need to see what Pugalist is capable of doing. He seems to put nice general appearanced on his kids. Thorn was hit by another doe 4 weeks before she was due with her triplets in 2009- and the kids were subsequently lost. We have hopes of having 2010 kids from her with either First Rate or Trooper- but we'll have to wait and see what happens.

What a nice little doe. Plain-Jane colour wise, but that's the way it goes here :) Tarragon freshened for the first time in 2008 with twins. Beautful soft, easy to milk udder. She has been bred to
Dill's LD 5Card Stud in the hopes that she will have a nice doe kid for me.

What a nice little doe. Tamarac freshened for the first time with triplets. They were TINY. I would like to see a higer rear udder on this girl and hopefuly being bred to Velvet Acres RB Tuscan Sun will help in that regard.

Tiny little girl out of a set of triplets. She's a light cream colour, really quite pretty. Nice angulation in the rear. Her mom, Rosa, does need a higer rear- but she does have tons  of capacity.  Tassel freshened with a nice little udder- though it could be higher in the rear. She will be bred to  Velvet Acres RB Tuscan Sun to see what he will produce.

I have a feeling that this girl is going to be special. She did freshen as a yearling and even produced a doe kid who is NOT black/chocolate and white!! Amazing. Thyme has an udder that is very similar to her mother's, nicely shaped, fairly good capacity, good medial. She has even better orifices, and is super on the milk stand. We'll have to see how it is with subsequent freshenings- but I think she'll be a keeper. She has been bred to Velvet Acres RB Tuscan Sun for her 2009 Freshening- we can't wait to see what comes of this. Tuscan has been producing some very stylish kids.
