Welcome
to Veliraf Farms -Quality Shetland Sheep. We currently run a flock of approximately
80 registered ewes, but are planning to expand a touch more in 2008.  We pride ourselves in the quality of sheep
to be found here on our farm, and we firmly believe in
culling for longevity,(our oldest ewe to lamb
and sucessfully raise twins turned 11 in
the spring of 2007)productivity, ease of lambing, conformation, and of course- fleece quality. Our foundation animals
came from the Cherrington flock- which has
since been disbursed. We were lucky to be able to start with some really outstanding animals.
We have recently acquired a few new rams in order to provide us with more genetic diversity.
We look forward to seeing just what these new boys can produce. 2007 was an exciting lambing season, we had many beautiful lambs born in a
wide variety of colour. We are currently trying to get pictures of all of our girls- but most days they just
don't want to co-operate! | |
| We currently run a registered flock of Shetland sheep. I am a current member of both the North American Shetland Sheep Association, as well as the Canadian Sheep Breeders association. Most, if not all of our sheep are dual registered with both assocations. | |
