Welcome to Veliraf Shetland Ewes page.  Here you will find the lovely ladies who produce many beutiful lambs for us each and every spring. We still have some of our foundation ladeis with us- though they are getting up there in age, they are still productive. We think that 2007 will be our most exciting year yet, with the introduction of some new genetics. Make sure to check back later on in the spring to see what gorgeous lambs have arrived.

Cherrinton Annabelle
D.O.B. May 20, 1996
Colour - Solid Black(probably dominant)
Markings- None
Birth Size - Twin

Sire- Skerryvore Corbie
(R White 240 x Skerryvore Wendy)
Dam- Cherrinton Queen Mary
(R Yellow 200 x Skerryvore Bridget)

A grand old girl- she is currently the oldest ewe here. We lost her lambs from last year, unfortunately- but not due to any fault of mom. One died of pneumonia, and the other was extremely tiny.  We're hoping that this years almbing has better results for this old girl as she really dotes on her babies. We'd also like to be able to keep a dominant black ram back in order to keep that rare colour in our flock.

  Edenborough Gretchen
D.O.B. May 15, 1998
Colour - Fawn
Markings-
Birth Size - Twin

Sire- Skerryvore Cameron
(R White 240 x Dailley Tawny Owl)
Dam- Skerryvore Dierdre
( R White 496 X Skerryvore Ashley)

Another old girl, she missed being bred by Heathcliff last year. Though she lambed, it was late in the summer to our Texel ram. Hopefully this year she'll cycle a little earlier and be bred by our new boy Gaven.

  Cherrinton Penelope
D.O.B. May 4, 1999
Colour - Black- greying on flanks
Markings- None
Birth Size - Twin

Sire- Skerryvore Cameron
(R White 240 x Dailley Tawny Owl)
Dam- Cherrinton Annabelle
(Skerryvore Cameron X Cherrinton Queen Mary)

A very nice ewe- she also is one of our foundation ewes. Twins reliably, raises lambs with no trouble at all- and we decided to keep one of her lambs from this year back as a future flock sire.  She has been bred to Gaven for 2007 lambs.

   Cherrinton Brie
D.O.B. April 12, 2000
Colour - Black
Markings- None
Birth Size - Triplet

Sire- Skerryvore Braw
(Skerryvore Oliver Twist X Skerryvore Annie Brown)
Dam- Skerryvore Dierdre
(R White 496 X Skerryvore Ashley)

One of the crazy women- this girls flight distance is about 75 feet. She's been here since she was about a year of age and has yet to settle down!!! However she is a nice ewe, twins reliably, and has produced some very nice lambs. She's been bred to Chives this year-so maybe we'll see a black katmoget ewe out of her!!!

Cherrington Melody
D.O.B.- April 26, 2000
Colour - Fawn
Markings-
Birth Size - Single

Sire- Skerryvore Braw
(Skerryvore Oliver Twist X Skerryvore Annie Brown)

Dam- Edenborough Grace
(Skerryvore Cameron X Skerryvore Bairbre)

Although in 2006 this girl produced twins, she has typically be known for her single lambs. We'll see what she produces in 2007, when she is bred to an outcross. Hopefully fertility will increase.

 Cherrington Morgan
D.O.B. May 23, 2001
Colour - Fawn
Markings-
Birth Size - Single

Sire- Cherrinton Heathcliff
(Skerryvore Corbie X Skerryvore Annie Black)
Dam- Edenborough Gretchen
(Skerryvore Cameron X Skerryvore Deirdre)

One of the resident crazies- this ewe is always running pell-mell all over the place. She is one of the wilder ones here.

 Veliraf Skittles
D.O.B. May 19, 2002
Colour - Light Grey
Markings-
Birth Size - Twin

Sire- Cherrinton Heathcliff
(Skerryvore Corbie X Skerryvore Annie Black)
Dam- Cherrington Penelope
(Skerryvore Cameron X Cherrington Annabelle)

One of my favourites, Penelope consistantly produces some really lovely lambs. She also lambed when she was one year of age- which is a trait I am selecting for. Can't wait to see what this girls lambs are like this year.

 Veliraf Pudding
D.O.B. May 29, 2002
Colour - Fawn
Markings- Blettet
Birth Size - Twin

Sire- Cherrinton Arthur
(Skerryvore Braw X Cherrinton Maid Marion)
Dam- Edenborough Gretchen
(Skerryvore Cameron X Skerryvore Deirdre)

This girl has personality plus. She just loves to compete in the lamb races. I swear she'll be one of those ewes who never grows up!!! She's been bred to Benny, so we have to see what we get.

 Veliraf Nellie
D.O.B. May 14, 2003
Colour - Black
Markings-
Birth Size - Triplet

Sire- Veliraf Pedro
(Cherrington Arthur X Cherrington Penelope)
Dam- Cherrinton Tilly
(Skerryvore Braw X Cherrington Queen Mary)

Bred to Benny for 2007 lambs.

 Veliraf Nubbin
D.O.B. May 19, 2003
Colour - Moorit
Markings-
Birth Size - Single

Sire- Veliraf Callum
(Cherrington Willoughby X Cherrington Annabelle)
Dam- Veliraf Grunt
(Cherrinton Heathcliff X Cherrington Tilly)

One of the only ewes out of Grunt before we lost her. Beautiful fleece with tone of life and ever so glossy. She's been bred to Gaven, and I can't wait to see what arrives.
