| Welcome to Veliraf Shetland Ewes page. Here you will find the lovely ladies who produce many beutiful lambs for us each and every spring. We still have some of our foundation ladeis with us- though they are getting up there in age, they are still productive. We think that 2007 will be our most exciting year yet, with the introduction of some new genetics. Make sure to check back later on in the spring to see what gorgeous lambs have arrived. |

AnnabelleSire- Skerryvore Corbie
(R White 240 x Skerryvore Wendy)
Dam- Cherrinton Queen Mary
(R
Yellow 200 x Skerryvore Bridget)
A grand old girl- she is currently the oldest ewe here. We lost her
lambs from last year, unfortunately- but not due to any fault of mom. One
died of pneumonia, and the other was extremely tiny. We're hoping that this
years almbing has better results for this old girl as she really dotes on her
babies. We'd also like to be able to keep a dominant black ram back in order to keep that rare colour in our flock.
Sire- Skerryvore Cameron
Another old girl, she missed being bred by Heathcliff last year. Though she lambed, it was late in the summer to our Texel ram. Hopefully this year she'll cycle a little earlier and be bred by our new boy Gaven.
Sire- Skerryvore Cameron
A very nice ewe- she also is one of our foundation ewes. Twins reliably, raises lambs with no trouble at all- and we decided to keep one of her lambs from this year back as a future flock sire. She has been bred to Gaven for 2007 lambs.
Sire- Skerryvore Braw
One of the crazy women- this girls flight distance is
about 75 feet. She's been here since she was about a year of age and has yet to
settle down!!! However she is a nice ewe, twins reliably, and has produced
some very nice lambs. She's been bred to Chives this year-so maybe we'll see a
black katmoget ewe out of her!!!
Sire- Skerryvore Braw
Although in 2006 this girl produced
twins, she has typically be known for her single lambs.
We'll see what she produces in 2007, when she is
bred to an outcross. Hopefully fertility will increase.
Sire- Cherrinton Heathcliff One of the resident crazies- this ewe is always running
pell-mell all over the place. She is one of the wilder ones
here.
Sire- Cherrinton Heathcliff One of my favourites, Penelope consistantly produces some really lovely
lambs. She also lambed when she was one year of age- which is a trait I am
selecting for. Can't wait to see what this girls lambs are like this
year. Sire- Cherrinton Arthur This girl has personality plus. She just loves to compete in the lamb races.
I swear she'll be one of those ewes who never grows up!!! She's been bred
to Benny, so we have to see what we get. Sire- Veliraf Pedro Sire- Veliraf Callum One of the only ewes out of Grunt before we lost her. Beautiful fleece
with tone of life and ever so glossy. She's been bred to Gaven, and I can't wait
to see what arrives. Veliraf Shetland Sheep
