Welcome to our sows page. We currently have two sows and one gilt living on our farm.
Although we aren't very big- we do take pride in the quality of animals that we have been producing. Our litters so far have all been very uniform, and we are
quite happy with that fact. Our two adults are Pickle Patch 4S(Atilla) and Pickle Patch 14S(Perscilla)
The sow pictured on the top is Atilla with her first litter of 12 piglets. The sow pictured below is Perscilla. Her first litter was a respectable litter of 8.
I was quite pleased with both litters. I think that likely Perscilla's was more consistant though, and we have decided to keep back a gilt from this litter.
Future litters will likely be more telling as to the quality of our sows.
We are not plannning to put our sows into high production. We do not, and will not, consider ourselves a commercial herd. Instead we will focus on producing high quality breeding stock-
that would be worthy in ANY swine herd. We will also, at the same time- be producing bacon and pork of the highest quality. We plan on breeding our sows for a once yearly litter.
We will be breeding for both spring and fall litters- so we should have breeding stock and meat pigs as well as pork, available all year 'round..

We strive to keep our animals as happy and healthy
as possible. We do not not use farrowing crates, nor do we clip piglets teeth or tails. Our adult pigs are fed a sow ration, with hay in the winter. When summer rolls around they will
be moved out to the yard- where they will be able to roll in the mud, graze on grass, and have access to plenty of healthy sunlight and fresh air. We spoil our little herd with treats and scraps from the house, as well as goodies fromthe garden,
which they relish! They also loved to be petted and scratched, and will stand for hours for a good back scratch. Our philosphy is quite simple. We feel that if you treat stock with consideration and respect,
they in turn will will consistantly provide for you.
